Homes provide protection and familiarity but can also become subject to the representation of power and violent interventions. The house of a family draws a line between privacy and public space. At the same time, they connect the interior and exterior, as well as the façade and the invisible lives behind the walls. The works exhibited here in MO_Schaufenster #34, Color of Time (2017 to present), Amina’s Tears (2023) and Das Kapital – Epilogue (2020) by Nadia Kaabi-Linke, explore these connections and delve into the domestic space with its many facets. Kaabi-Linke uses and alienates objects or functions of specific places and buildings, thereby subtly confronting habitual perceptions. In the three works, she raises intriguing questions, such as: What cultural influences are embedded in the private home? What stories can the color pigments on the walls tell? How can stories change the way we deal with houses, prompting us to reconsider our relationship with our living spaces?
